After several days of heavy thunderstorm rains had already soaked the ground, a thunderstorm which deposited between two and four inches of rainfall in two hours produced flooding across southern sections of Jefferson County. Hardest hit were the Anita and Worthville areas, where several homes were flooded. Just northwest of Worthville, Tarkin Run overflowed its banks and flooded State Route 3003, where a large truck was stranded in water up to the tops of its wheels. Several other roadways in southern Jefferson County were closed due to flooding. Home and basement flooding were also reported in Reynoldsville and Punxsutawney.
Flash flooding was reported in the Reynoldsville area, temporarily closing a number of roads. This included SR 950, which had 2 feet of water covering portions of the roadway. In Reynoldsville, basement flooding was reported in several homes.
About 1130 PM on the 20th, near Brookville, Allens Mills Rd and Richardsville Rd flooded. By 3 AM EDT on the 21st, near Punxsutawney, Elk Run and Mahoning Creek began to flood after 4.5 inches of rain fell. Cars and basements were flooded. Some people were evacuated from their Maple Ave homes at 8 AM EDT.
