Widespread trees and power lines were blown down across the entire county. Falling trees caused substantial damage to many homes, vehicles and outbuildings throughout the county. Extensive structural damage was also caused by strong winds.
A powerful downburst …from a thunderstorm whose core was actually in Rowan county…damaged a wide area along High Rock Lake. Many trees were blown down onto piers, homes, and cars. At least two houseboats were swept out of the water..and landed on adjacent residences and vehicles. Around five homes were seriously damaged.
A couple of trees were blown down along a swath from west-southwest of Linwood to south-southeast of Lexington. One tree was blown down onto a residence on Seven Oaks Drive and the other fell across Becks Church Road near Briggstown Road.
