Old Fayetteville Road at Hollis Lane was impassable. A sink hole developed on Grandiflora Drive. Road closed. Zion Church Road near Chappell Loop Rd closed. Mt Misery Rd was impassable. Hwy 133 impassable near Fifty Lakes Drive. Hwy 17 closed in Shallotte. Malmo Loop Rd closed. Turkey Trot Rd closed near Fawn Haven Lane. Hwy 211 closed near 9th Street. Lancale Rd closed at US-74. Ocean Isle Beach Rd closed. Hwy 74/76 closed near Saw Mill Road. Little Macedonia Rd closed near Shallotte. E Beach Dr was washed out in Oak Island.
An earthen dam at Sunset Beach was overtopped. Another earthen dam on Heather Lake, near the state line, was overtopped as well. Flooding was characterized by officials on the ground as widespread as up to a foot of rain fell across the area during the afternoon and evening. Multiple homes were reportedly flooded up to knee deep in the Spring Mill Plantation and Carolina Shores communities in Calabash. Numerous families were evacuated from their homes and many were taken to area shelters. Twenty vehicles were stranded in flood waters. The occupants of these vehicles had to be rescued and brought to safety due to the rapidity of the water rise.
Hwy 17 was closed in both directions at the Town Creek Bridge between I-140 and NC-87. Hwy 211 was closed near Stone Chimney Rd near Sunset Beach. Hwy 211 was also closed near Dosher Cutoff. Jabbertown Rd was closed near E Leonard St. Hwy 17 closed near Ocean Isle Beach. Bethel Rd closed near Cagney Lane.
