Several trees down across the town of Lewis as well as a large swath of trees just north of Exit 32 on the southbound lane of Interstate 87 that closed the highway for several hours. Damages in Lewis/Stowersville were to trees, a few vehicles, roofs from fallen trees and a few sheds.
A warm front moved northeast through northern New York during the early morning hours of July 9th resulting in severe thunderstorms across parts of the area. Thunderstorm winds downed powerlines in Gouverneur and trees and powerlines in Wadhams and Westport. In Canton lightning started a fire which destroyed a garage and three cars.
