Thunderstorms with heavy rain caused poor drainage flooding across western Monmouth county from Hazlet Township southwest through Millstone Township. The worst reported flooding was in Hazlet along both New Jersey State Routes 35 and 36. Doppler Radar storm total estimates reached around two inches in western Monmouth County.
The heavy rain caused poor drainage flooding along New Jersey State Route 35. Storm totals included 1.47 inches in Belmar, but Dopper Radar storm total estimates reached 2.5 to 3.0 inches across extreme eastern Monmouth County.
The combination of the heavy rain and high tide forced the closure of New Jersey State Route 35 in Aberdeen Township by the Matawan River. In Marlboro Township, flooding was reported along Country Route 520 and Crane Road. Event precipitation totals included 2.90 inches in Marlboro, 2.83 inches in Cream Ridge, 2.64 inches in Belmar and 2.21 inches in Holmdel.
