Numerous trees reported down in Rye, NH as strong outflow winds brought damaging wind gusts to the region. Unofficial wind gusts in the upper 70s were reported from backyard weather stations as the line passed through the area.
After surveying severe thunderstorm damage in the Town of Plaistow, the National Weather Service confirmed that the damage was caused by a microburst. Wind gusts estimated at 80 to 90 mph snapped or uprooted hundreds of trees in the southern section of the town. The microburst affected an area about 2 miles wide and 1.6 miles in length. Numerous structures were damaged by falling trees. Dozens of utility poles and wires were also downed leading to widespread power outages.
