A small section of Cass County received significant crop damage due to hail. Marble to golf ball-size hail completely destroyed 500 to 1,000 acres of corn and soybeans, and partially destroyed another 1,000 acres. The Buccaneer Bay golf course received $10,000 damage to its greens and there was considerable damage to area roofs.
Hail up to 3 inches in diameter was reported over much of northern into east central Cass county from around 8 miles west northwest of Plattsmouth into the town of Plattsmouth and to locations a few miles to the south. The hail caused extensive damage to cars and trees/plants and was associated with the supercell that eventually produced a weak short-lived tornado near Plattsmouth.
