Thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at 60 mph blew a large secured grain bin a few hundred yards off its foundation and damaged a few others around 3 miles southwest of Albion. The winds also caused tree damage around that area northeast into Albion. A trampoline in the area was also wrapped around a propane tank and swing set flipped.
The northeast extent of about a 150 mile path of wind damage to mainly corn crops extended from around Primrose to southeast and east of Albion. The winds were estimated at over 60 mph. The damage was noted by area agronomists flying over the area and is known as green snap, or stalk breakage due to winds during a fast growing stage right before tasseling.
Thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at over 60 mph caused shed damage and downed large tree limbs. Some hail up to golf ball-size accompanied the strong winds west of Albion, and 2.25 inches of rain fell in less than 60 minutes from the storm.
