Two people attempted to cross a low water bridge on County Road 2110 three miles west of Mount Vernon along the Spring River. One male was rescued in the river and the other male drowned. His body was later recovered. Heavy rainfall from the previous night led to elevated water levels on area streams.
Water was reported over the roadway on Missouri 97 in several locations, approximately 4 miles north of Missouri 96. White Oak Creek and several other creeks along Highway 97 were flowing over the road closing it for several hours.
