The Joplin Airport ASOS measured 5.71 inches of rain within a 24 hour period. This excessive rain caused flash flooding in nearly all areas that typically flood during excessive rain. More specifically, Jonas Creek in Webb City experienced major flooding that damaged a bridge and lifted a large section of asphalt off of a road. The creek also flooded 30 homes.
There was flash flooding across the central portions of Jasper County. All emergency crews were assisting in water rescue operations, particularly in an area between Carthage and Carterville. A section of a railroad crossing was washed out just north of Carthage. Several homes and cars were flooded.
Numerous rural routes and low water crossings were flooded throughout the county.||The total cost estimate for flooding damages for Jasper County for this entire episode has been included. This includes roads, bridges, and structures which were affected.
