Large hail was reported from severe thundestorms throughout Atchison County. Golfball-size to egg-size hail was reported by the public 2 miles west of Westboro, dime-size hail was reported by a spotter 2 miles northwest of Westboro. Nickel-size hail was reported by a citizen 10 miles northwest of Tarkio.
One inch hail was reported at the Missouri State Weigh in station 2 miles south of Watson. A severe weather spotter also reported one inch hail 2 miles north of Phelps City. An area of crop damage 2 miles wide was reported about 1.5 miles north of Watson. Golfball-size hail fell from a miles east of Phelps City to a mile and half southeast of Watson resulting in the damage to the corn.
Half dollar-size hail was reported by the sheriff's office in Tarkio. The same severe thunderstorm that produced the large hail in Tarkio dropped over 3 inches of rain in various other sections of the county. A University of Missouri agricultural weather station measured 3.33 inches of rain in one hour at Nishnabotna.
