Heavy rains from slow moving thunderstorms caused widespread flooding across the western half of the county. Rainfall totals of 7 to 9 inches were estimated across the area. Many roads had to be closed for several hours due to high water. A few secondary roads were washed out and took several days to repair. One home had to be evacuated due to the threat of high water. No injuries occurred.
Nearly three inches of rainfall occurred near Wiggins within 45 minutes, and resulted in flash flooding along Magnolia Drive, closing the roadway. Also, the heavy rains and resultant flooding caused a gas station canopy to collapse.
Street flooding was reported in the northwest part of the county, generally along and north of Mississippi Highway 26 and west of Wiggins. Many secondary roads had to be closed for several hours until the water had drained from the streets. Doppler radar estimated three to four inches of rain fell across the area.
