Several rounds of thunderstorms and continued heay rain dumped 7 to 12 inches of rain across the southern portion of Leake county. Numerous roads were flooded with a few bridges being washed out. Several homes and businesses were also flooded.
A significant flash flood event occurred due to strong thunderstorms training across the county for much of the day. Significant flooding occurred to several homes. Six roads had major damage, and an additional 10 roads had some sections that were washed out from the flooding.
Heavy rainfall between 3-5 inches fell across central Leake county. The corridor along MS Highway 16 had various levels of flooding. Multiple houses were flooded along Pilgrim Rest road and residents had to be rescued. Additionally, the intersection of Choctaw road and Okahoma Dr was flooded.
