High downburst winds from a supercell thunderstorm blew down trees and power lines and caused other damage across central and northern portions of Kemper County. The roof was blown off an outbuilding in the Coy community, and a tree was blown onto a home in De Kalb. A peak wind gust of 82 mph was measured at the Joe Williams Naval Outlying Field AWOS site KNJW.
Winds from a severe thunderstorm damaged some mobile homes southwest of De Kalb, including a double-wide mobile home which had its roof blown off. Some trees were also blown down farther southwest along MS Highway 493 near Liberty.
One mobile home was rolled over and destroyed along with a roof blown off an apartment complex. Numerous trees and power lines were blown down with a few large trees falling onto houses. A total of eight homes sustained damage.
