Flooding around the Lux Community caused a culvert washout along McConnel Foster Road, and several unoccupied campers had to be towed away from flooding along Okatoma River Road. Flood waters eroded the railroad embankment along a stretch of tracks near the Lux Community. Three train cars later derailed after passing over the weakened tracks. An estimated 3 to 6 inches of rain fell nearby.
Heavy rains, 5 to 6.5 inches, fell across the southern half of Covington county during the early morning hours of March 31st. This rain flooded a couple of homes and nearly a dozen county roads. Many of the roads were closed for several hours before being opened late in the afternoon.
Widespread flash flooding occurred across Covington County as 4 to 6.5 inches of rain fell. Water covered Mcdonald Road just south of Collins. Water washed out culverts on Deerman Road just south of Collins. Numerous other roads were flooded across the county. A portion of Highway 49 was covered with high water for a short period of time. Sanford recorded 4.8 inches of rain. A half inch fell in ten minutes.
