A long lived supercell thunderstorm moved across the entire central portion of Copiah county Sunday evening and produced quarter to golf ball sized hail. The most significant hail damage occurred in and around Hazelhurst where several hundred cars were damaged. The large hail also broke out windows and damaged many roofs across town.
A swath of quarter to tennis ball size hail fell across northeastern Copiah County, and then moved into northwestern Simpson County. Tennis ball size hail fell along County Line Road, and quarter size hail fell in the city of Crystal Springs.
A severe thunderstorm produced a swath of large hail across portions of central Copiah County. Ping pong ball size hail fell along Highway 28 to the southwest of Hazlehurst. Quarter to golfball size hail fell in and just south of Hazlehurst, with the largest falling on I-55. Two inch hail fell along Highway 472 just before Ashley Road to the east of Hazlehurst.
