What the reports say

Numerous trees and power lines were blown down across the central portion of the county. Some of these trees were down on homes and across roads. One tree fatally injured a person at Jeff Busby Park. This person was camping in a tent when the tree was knocked down.
A major derecho storm moved northeast out of Attala county and caused significant damage in southern portions of the county. The French Camp Academy sustained significant damage to several buildings from fallen trees. Elsewhere across southern portions of the county, one mobile home was destroyed, four houses and one mobile home sustained major damage, and at least 50 homes received minor damage.
A swath of damaging wind occurred as a severe thunderstorm moved through the region. Trees were uprooted and minor structural damage occurred at a residence southwest of Mathiston. Trees and powerlines were blown down in Sherwood.
