What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
An empty grain bin was lofted and blown about 300 feet into a field. Several trees were uprooted or broken. Shingles were removed from a house. A brand new and large metal building system was completely ripped off its foundation and destroyed.
A few trees were damaged, a weak 4-legged metal tower was tipped over, and a shed was blown over. This area may have been an earlier beginning point of the Camp Lake tornado, but damage was too scant to be certain, and therefore this damage has been listed as thunderstorm wind damage.
A machine shed and bin collapsed onto a combine at a farm on Highway 20 in Fairfield Township, Section 33. The debris from the shed and bin were thrown several yards. A farmhouse suffered a broken window and a hole in the roof from flying debris. At the property next door a machine shed had the roof and a door ripped off. Evergreens at a church in Fairfield were downed.
