Large hail fell in a swath from the north central to southeast parts of Rock County. Towns affected included Hardwick, Luverne, and Kanaranzi. The hail broke windows and damaged vehicles in Luverne. The hail also caused widespread damage to corn and soybean crops along its path with leaves stripped and stalks bruised.
Large hail caused considerable damage to crops. Some soybean crops were destroyed. Corn crops affected were expected to recover, according to the county extension agent, because the crops were young, with the growing point still below the ground and able to produce new stalks. Therefore, the amount of crop damage was not known.
