Several rounds of heavy rainfall, combined with saturated soils, caused a mudslide on Burr Ridge Lane in Eden Prairie. The mudslide partially damaged a home, but due to the extreme unstable soil conditions near the home, the home was demolished.
Several local officials, trained spotters and the general public observed flash flooding across southern Hennepin County due to 2, to locally 5.2 inches of rain that fell between 4 AM CST to 8 AM CST. Flooding was widespread along area creeks and streams, especially around Lake Harriet where local bike paths and low areas around golf courses were under one to two feet of water during the height of the storm. Kings Highway along Lake Harriet was also closed for a short period of time due to flood waters. An official rainfall report (CoCoRaHS) of 5.15 inches fell west of Eden Prairie Shopping Mall, and the Flying Cloud Airport received 4.53 inches in 3 hours.
Due to excessive runoff from very heavy rainfall, significant street flooding occurred near Brooklyn Blvd, and Regent Avenue. Several of the smaller creeks in the area also had flooded and were out of their banks. Several residential streets were also flooded near Osseo, Minnesota. Plus, several homes around 75th Street and Kentucky Avenue in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota had flood waters reach the first floor of their houses.
