A damage path of nearly 20 miles in length and 0.5-1 mile in width was caused by a bowing segment of an MCS. The path extended from Onondaga northeast to Vantown. As a result of the high winds, numerous large trees were wither uprooted or snapped. Some homes sustained roof damage as well as some barns.
Severe storms produced an area of 65 to 80 mph winds and nickel sized hail just west of Lake Lansing between East Lansing and Haslett. A small house was destroyed when a 40 inch diameter tree fell on the house. Two garage doors were also partially blown in by the wind gusts. Up to 100 trees, some large, were uprooted by the storm. The swath of damage was 5 miles long and up to 1.25 miles wide. The worst damage occurred at the beginning of the damage swath near the intersection of Porter Avenue and Biber Street.
A nearly 3 mile damage path 0.5-1 mile in width was reported in southeastern Ingham county between Swan Road and Dansville road east of US 52. The damage was was caused by a bowing segment that passed through this area. Several barns were damaged, and a garagee was blown down. The garage was not properly secured to the foundation, however. Additionally, some power lines in the area were down.
