After receiving five to six inches of rain associated with Tropical Storm Irene, Granville Road in Westfield washed out. Route 202 and Union Street were closed due to flooding from the Westfield River. Houses on Ellsworth Street were evacuated due to the flooding on the Westfield River.
Three houses in Southwick were flooded. In Westfield, Mainline Drive was flooded at its intersection with Route 20. Portions of Union and Notre Dame Streets were also closed because of flooding. A house on East Mountain Road was flooded with 30 inches of water and two cars in the driveway were flooded.
Robbins State Park was closed when it became flooded by Miller Brook.|Minor flooding occurred along the Westfield River through Westfield. A crest of 18.8 feet was recorded at 2 pm on the 16th (flood stage is 13 feet). Flooding affected a portion of Route 20.
