A macroburst from a severe thunderstorm snapped or uprooted an estimated several thousand trees in the town of Rangeley. The damage area was about 7.5 miles long and about 3.6 miles wide. Falling trees blocked roads and damaged vehicles in the area. The strongest winds were estimated to be between 70 and 80 mph near Haines Landing on the east side of Mooselookmeguntic Lake.
The Central Maine Power Company reported that thunderstorm winds downed numerous trees and caused power outages in southern and central Franklin County. Affected communities included Rangeley, Weld, Madrid, Phillips, Salem, Strong, and New Vineyard.
