A severe thunderstorm and associated microburst reached the western shore of Sebago Lake just after 4pm. The damaging winds downed 80 to 100 trees…some uprooted and others snapped. Most of the trees were softwoods while a few were hardwoods. About fifteen structures were damaged along with ten vehicles. One fatality occurred when a tree fell on an occupied vehicle. The most significant damage occurred within a one mile path width and within a quarter mile of the western shore of Sebago Lake. Sporadic damage occurred beyond this. This storm would continue to produce|additional wind damage as it moved east of Sebago Lake later in the afternoon.
A severe thunderstorm downed trees throughout southern portions of Falmouth. One of the hardest hit areas was on and near Depot Road where falling trees downed wires and snapped four power poles. One man was trapped in his vehicle for a short time. About 1000 customers lost electrical service during the event. A greenhouse on Foreside road had substantial damage with windows blown out, and the suspended ceiling was damaged by the air pressure created by the wind when the windows broke. On Old Mill Road, a large tree fell on a vehicle.
Thunderstorms ahead of a fast-moving cold front produced damaging winds which downed trees and power lines, resulting in scattered power outages. Measured wind gusts up to 72 mph overturned boats at Merepoint. Other locations in southern and central Maine experienced power outages from limbs or a single tree blown onto power lines.
