What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
Severe thunderstorms developed over north-central and northeast Louisiana producing damaging wind gusts and large hail. Wind driven hail broke car windshields south of Lake Providence, and hail heavily damaged several acres of cotton east of Winnsboro. Thunderstorm wind gusts overturned some farm equipment west of Transylvania. The remainder of wind damage appeared to be confined to downed tree limbs and trees.
Several trees were snapped and uprooted along Highway 34, Aunt Maries Road, and Highway 126. Although these trees were near the tornado path, they were associated with straight-line thunderstorm winds as the trees fell to the north.
Widespread trees and powerlines downed throughout the parish. A roof was ripped off a home with other homes suffering structural damage from fallen trees. Automobiles also had trees downed on them as well. Power outages were widespread throughout the parish.
