Thunderstorms, a few severe, moved across north Louisiana producing several reports of damaging winds and hail. Wind gusts to 55 mph were reported near Transylvania and wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph were estimated at Newlight. The wind damage reported was confined to downed trees and power lines. In Marksville, a farm implement store was destroyed by fire, with fire inspectors suspecting a lightning strike as the probable cause. The damage from the fire was estimated at $1 million.
Early morning thunderstorms produced hail, about one inch in diameter, at several location in extreme northwest Louisiana. In addition, locally heavy rain occurred in a few locations, with four inches of rain being reported near Caddo Lake.
