The tornado began in DeRidder Louisiana just north of 171 on East 1st Street where it created minor roof damage and took out several overhead doors. The winds at this time were estimated at 78 mph. As the tornado moved northeast, it strengthened near Mac Sterling Road crossing into Vernon Parish near the intersection of John Brewer and Borel Roads. Roughly 40 structures were in the path of the tornado with various degrees of damage. Two homes had exterior walls collapse with the interior remaining intact. Numerous trees and power lines were also downed. The max estimated winds while in Beauregard Parish was 152 MPH.
A cluster of thunderstorms produced a tornado that moved along an intermittent path that began 10 miles southwest of Fields. The tornado moved northeast through Fields and Singer then turned east before ending in Dry Creek. A damage survey conducted by the Beauregard Parish emergency manager showed that 3 single family homes were destroyed, 4 single family homes, 5 mobile homes and 2 businesses received major damage, and 8 single family homes, and 5 mobile homes suffered minor damage. The majority of this property damage was in the Singer and Dry Creek areas where 5 people were injured. In addition, the tornado destroyed hundreds of trees.
This tornado developed in Calcasieu Parish and continued into Beauregard Parish. The tornado damaged numerous homes and outbuildings, while snapping or uprooting numerous trees. This tornado tracked directly through the community of Gaytine after crossing Highway 171. There were three injuries with this tornado prior to lifting east of the Gaytine community. Maximum estimated winds were 125 mph.
