During the evening of May 1st, a severe thunderstorm moving southeast dumped a large swath of hail ranging in size from pennies to softballs across a large portion of Laurel County. Numerous homes and vehicles were damaged, especially in the town of London.
A picture on social medai showed hail covering the ground north of Keavy along KY-192. The majority of the stones were closer to quarter-sized, however a few significantly larger stones were also visible in the picture, including some that were at least egg sized.
A social media video shows a lot of hail falling near the intersection of Hooppole Creek Road and Marydell Road in eastern Laurel County around 4:15pm. There are stones of various sizes visible in the video, including some that are at least quarter sized.
