Numerous trees, tree limbs, power lines and poles were down in and around Kendallville. At least 2 vehicles suffered damage from falling trees. A 30 to 40 foot tall maple tree snapped and fell between two houses, luckily not causing any damage to either one.
Numerous trees were blown down starting in the town of Albion and continuing along for 5 milesjust south of highway 8. Several homes sustained minor damage. One mobile home 2 miles southeastof Albion was destroyed. Two farmsteads had their grain bins blown down and another farmstead hada barn destroyed by the high winds.
A residence on County Road 300 East, just south of County Road 100 North, suffered damage to a roof as a large tree clipped a corner of the house. Another tree fell onto a detached garage, causing damage to a wall. In addition, a pole barn had a portion of the roof torn off. The residence was occupied by the owners as well as several children. All in the residence took shelter in a basement with no injuries being reported. Damage is estimated at $40,000.
