Sheriff reported trees and powerlines down. One man died when storms swept across the area. 40-year-old Robert Walker was riding his bike when a tree fell, killing him.|Nearby, there were four others trapped in a store on the corner of 11th and Dugas Street. Inmate crews were out for hours today cleaning up the mess.|The tree that leveled the corner store was completely uprooted. Two men and two children were inside the building and were injured when it collapsed.|
Thunderstorm winds blew large limbs and several utility poles down throughout the city. A field light pole at May park was nearly sheared in half by thunderstorm winds. Electricity was knocked out for nearly 6,300 customers for two hours.
Sheriff reported trees and powerlines down around the Augusta area. About 24 soldiers at Ft. Gordon were injured from debris crashing into their tents and were taken to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center for treatment.
