The Polk County 911 Center and the public reported that large hail fell southeast of Cedartown, generally between Cedartown and Felton along U.S. Highway 27. The hail began as quarter size, lasting for several minutes, increasing to golf ball size before it ended.
Amateur Radio operators relayed multiple reports of hail from near the Polk/Haralson County line south of Cedartown, northeast toward Morgan Valley Road near Parham Springs Lake. The hail ranged in size from dime to quarters.
The public observed half-dollar-sized hail in the far western part of the county near Etna and the Alabama state line, while quarter-sized hail was observed near Cedartown. WSR-88D radar data suggests that hail near quarter, perhaps larger, continued east to east-southeast of Cedartown toward Antioch and Van Wert.
