Downburst winds from a severe thunderstorm produced widespread damage in Vero Beach and Gifford. Eight homes in Vero Beach had major damage mainly from falling trees. Three commercial buildings were damaged, with trees and power lines down. Wings gusted to 83 mph at Vero Beach at 0427 EST.
Thunderstorms winds from the west blew across Sebastian and the Intracoastal Waterway overturning three moored vessels. They were a 38 foot trimaran, a 28 foot sailboat and a 54 foot steel research vessel. About 20 trees were blown down on a spoil island east of the overturned vessels.
Severe thunderstorms blew down large tree limbs and broke windows out of a house near Ft. Drum. Four houses, two of which were under construction, suffered roof or window damage in the Windsor Subdivision near Wabasso. A nursery and large tent were also damaged in the thunderstorm near Wabasso.
