Hail of pea size (0.25 inch) to 0.5 inch in diameter, with hail covering the road on Coronado. Accidents reported on Highway-75 between Nab Coronado and Leyte Road on the Silver Strand (Beach Highway). One vehicle flipped.
Thunderstorms produced widespread accumulations of hail across San Diego County. Most of the hailstones that fell were between 1/4 and 1/2 inch in diameter, however, a few of the stronger thunderstorms produced hailstones that measured one inch in diameter.
The public reported pea to quarter sized hail near Lake Morena on Facebook. The COOP observer a little further south in Campo reported heavy rain with a thunderstorm and 0.5 inch hail reducing visibility to 1/8 mile. Further north in Pine Valley, the public reported pea to dime size hail and 1 to 2 inches of water flowing over the road.
