What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
The stage at Camden remained above flood stage from the 4th of May into June. The crest of the river was the highest since flooding in 1990. Numerous cabins along the high banks of the river were impacted by inundation or isolation. County roads also suffered damage.
Heavy rainfall in April caused a prolonged high water event along the lower Ouachita River which ended in early May. Within the Thatcher Lock and Dam reach of the river in Calhoun County, high water cut off access to oil and gas wells and prevented logging in the floodplain. Damages were insignificant.
The Ouachita River at Thatcher Lock and Dam did begin January already in minor flood stage and continue into the first part of the month above flood stage. The site would experience a crest on 1/3/2025 at 2200 LST of 82.12 feet.
