A Travel Inn on 136 near Highway 184 had the roof blown off by winds estimated at 60-70 mph. A few hundred yards down from the motel a couple of dead tees were blown down. A trailer had its skirting blown out and a limb was blown into to the top of the trailer.
A swath of wind damage occurred in the Excel area ranging from|70 to 90mph. A mile wide swath of damage began between Arena Road|and Wild Fork Road, with the swath gradually narrowing as it|continued northeast to Highway 84. Damage primarily consisted of|tree snaps and uproots; however a couple homes did experience|removal of small awnings. The strongest winds likely occurred|along Fred Jordan Road where some metal storage buildings had|significant removal of roofing and siding, and a shed was rolled|several times.
A little northeast of Vredenburgh, a huge downburst occurred. Hundreds of eighteen year old pine trees in a one-half mile area were blown down. The damage occurred in a large pine forest farm. This pattern had the classic appearance of a microburst from the air. Foresters' estimated damage at neat 1 million dollars. A few minutes later a tornado struck around the same area.
