Numerous large trees were downed on the ouknotskirknots of Fort Payne near an area called Dugout Valley. The communities of Powell, Rainsville, Pine Ridge, Adamsburg, Fyffe, and Geraldine also reported trees and power lines down. A business at an industrial park suffered roof damage estimated at $50,000.
High wind damaged eight businesses, two homes, and a church in Henager. A number of trees in the area were also downed. Nearly 8,000 power customers were without service at one point. Three-quarter inch hail covered the ground at Henager.
A microburst produced significant wind damage to a commercial district in Fort Payne. One minor injury occurred when a young girl was blown down and received a scrape to her hand while seeking shelter at a car dealership. This included the South Y plaza where extensive roof and window damage occurred. Metal debris flew off of a pickup truck and through a window at a fast food restaurant. The sign at the restaurant was also heavily damaged. An estimated 60 cars received scratches, dents and window damage at area car dealerships. Several trees and power lines were blown down in the general vicinity and southeast of Fort Payne on Lookout Mountain. A car accident occurred when a driver dodged flying metal.
