A flash flood caused significant rises in Hayden, Wolf, Cottonwood, Butter, and Little Cottonwood Creeks. A campground resort on County Road 6 was evacuated. Some outbuildings took on water, but no residences were flooded. County Roads in and around the burn scar sustained some damage. There were no injuries.
County Road 27, north of Texas Creek, had several washouts. Fourteen people and their vehicles were stranded on the road, which leads to a popular recreation area. Washouts were as deep as 8 feet. In addition, dirt and rock debris washed into the Arkansas River which needed to be excavated from bridge abutements.
Severe thunderstorms rumbled through portions of southeast Park and Fremont Counties. Hail up to 2.00 inches fell over the area, breaking windows in Canon City and south of Florence. The hail also damaged roofs of residences in Canon City.
