Very strong straight line thunderstorm winds resulted in extensive tree and building damage to a farmstead near Hannover. The worst of the damage occurred to a shed, which was blown apart and scattered one half of a mile downwind.
The tornado touched down in Cross Ranch State Park and passed along the Matah Trail before lifting along the shores of the Missouri River. Large Cottonwood trees were twisted and broken into many different directions. Based on the damage done the tornado was rated EF-1. From that, wind speeds were estimated to have been around 90 mph.
The tornado formed in an open field southwest of Hannover and tracked to the southeast before dissipating south of Hannover. The tornado impacted no structures, thus there was no damage to evaluate. By National Weather Service policy the tornado is rated EF-U (Unknown).
