What the reports say

A damage survey confirmed that straight line winds estimated around 80 mph caused sporadic tree and branch damage along with some minor damage to homes in and near Oil City. One large tree was uprooted onto a home in Oil City, killing a 75 year old man inside.
A Ruston, LA woman was killed and her husband seriously injured when lightning stuck the couple as they were pulling auto parts from a salvage yard. The woman was killed instantly when lightning hit the umbrella she was holding.
A 49 year old was killed when a lightning bolt struck nearby where he was standing at East Ridge Country Club on the golf course. Corner reports that the strike did not directly hit the man but was close enough to cause cardiac arrhythmia.
