A trained spotter reported large hail, between 1 1/4 inch and 1 1/2 inch in diameter that fell in Kewaskum. The 5-8 minute hail storm was the worst to hit Kewaskum in many years. Roughly 200 vehicles suffered damage from the hail, as well as many homes, condos, apartments and outdoor equipment. Hail damage to vehicles was about $250,000, and about $1.75 M to buildings and equipment. This information was supplied by local auto-body shops and insurance companies and is a broad estimate.
Scattered thunderstorms that accompanied a cold front across southern Wisconsin produced hail showers over portions of Southeast Wisconsin. WHile most of teh hail was 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter, a trained spotter in Hartford, in western Washington County, reported 3/4 inch hail stones.
A line of severe thunderstorms packing winds to 60 mph and golf ball-sized hail rumbled through northeast Wisconsin downing many trees and power lines. In Bellevue (Brown County) $100,000 in wind damage took place to a garage and convenience store. Violent winds also damaged a farm one mile south of Waupaca (Waupaca County). An isolated severe thunderstorm knocked down many trees and power lines and caused minor property damage in Shullsburg (Lafayette County).
