Thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines, and caused roof damage to a middle school as the storms moved through Wausau. Trees landed on the roofs of two houses and on several cars. A gust to 64 mph was measured at Wausau Downtown Airport.
Downburst winds from a thunderstorm caused a barn to collapse, killing or severely injuring 50 head of milking cattle. Part of the milking parlor also collapsed. A flat-bed trailer with irrigation piping was moved about 20 feet, with some of the piping blown over an adjacent residence and into a stand of pine trees. Less than a mile to the east the metal roof of a 25 foot by 25 foot shed was blown about 30 yards into an adjacent corn field.
Isolated severe storms developed powerful winds which resulted mostly in large trees and powerlines being blown down. Scattered locations in Price and St. Croix Counties had powerful winds which blew down large trees. In the Caroline (Shawano County) area the severe winds blew down several trees and the top of a high school scoreboard, and "pushed" a farmer's chopper wagon 700 feet across a field, the last 200 feet uphill. Intense downburst winds downed approximately 50 trees, and did $25,000 in damage to several houses and vehicles in the Schofield (Marathon County) area. Large trees were also toppled west of Fifield by a severe storms powerful winds.
