Thunderstorm winds downed hundreds of trees and many power lines across the county. The greatest concentration of downed trees was to the north and west of Union. The damage extended into the Lindside area where a tree fell onto a moving vehicle. One occupant of the vehicle sustained scrapes and bruises. Damage values are estimated.
Microburst winds up to 75 MPH caused damage to many trees in the area. Roof damage to several homes also occurred, a few outbuildings were badly damaged, and a mobile home was rolled off its foundation. This damage began along Route 12 north of Ballard and continued southeast for about 3 miles crossing portions of Red Sulpher Springs Road.
The public reported that at least eleven trees were down across a 1/2 mile-wide area just to the east-northeast of Red Sulphur Springs. Additional damage was noted to the southeast just northeast of Lindside, where several large tree limbs were down.
