Numerous trees and large branches were blown down. The airport near Flatwoods recorded a gust to 53 mph, but higher gusts were likely in the county. One house had minor damage and 1 other had minor damage. The public infrastructure damage assessment was around $236,000.
Thunderstorms formed over the mountains and moved west toward the Ohio River. Large hail was common. At Hacker Vallery, the cooperative weather observer said the large cabbage heads in the garden were shredded like slaw. Large tree limbs were broken off by the wind in Glenville, Burnsville, Harrisville, and Waverly, but no property damage was reported. In Williamstown, a city dispatcher said city crews will be working all day to clean up fallen tree limbs. Cloudbursts and frequent lightning also occurred with these storms. Gregory measured two inches of rain in one hour. Heaters had three and one-half inches in two hours. However, no significant flooding was observed.
