What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
An unusual thunderstorm dumped a substantial amount of very small hail onto an elementary school roof. The sudden temperature change caused by an extensive hail fall onto a previously hot roof caused it to contract rapidly. The quick change caused the roof to split in several places, causing significant damage to the roof. Subsequent leakage damaged interior ceiling tiles, as well as furniture.
